I Say Potato You Say Potahto

Phew, what a week-! Two assessments in a day on Wednesday and two kitchen classes in a week. Not to mention 3 more assignments that are due next week. What happened to all my chillax free time laa?!

Moving on. Made apple tart ( note : tart, not pie ) during pastry class on Monday with my new partner Wei Mae-! I really regret telling people that my mum is a baker because sadly I did not inherit any of her chunted skills. Malu sial.

Preparing the tart filling and jam. Woooooooooo...

Apparently, I'm the only one that has heard of the "when-you-cut-an-apple-in-half-you'll-find-a-star-in-the-middle" theory. So when I went around showing people the star, they were like wtf can?! No, I'm not weird. Maybe I am. But hey, I'm special that way =)

Ta-daah-! Our final product. It's a tart okay, not a pie. And before you start thinking "aiyo, will get diarrhea if i eat anot"... Lemme assure you, IT'S TOTALLY EDIBLE-! In fact, it's something I would buy in, hmm, a bistro/cafe perhaps? Harhar. I'm tooting my own horn here.

Hospitality seniors threw us a welcoming/orientation party Thursday night at the college's restaurant. And that was what I wear. Car Yi, Yi Wen, Wei Mae and I hitched a ride with Andrea to my house to bath. Omg see I'M SOOOOO HOSPITABLE RIGHT?! Thought we were late because we got stuck in a jam on the way back to college.

Aanndd... Andrea and Car Yi were too pai seh to show up in front of everyone looking all formal and shit so we like literally walked around in between the kitchen and restaurant. Malu can all of the seniors and lecturers were looking at us in a "what-are-you-lost-ducks?!" kindda way.

Water growth crystal balls and candle for the table's center piece.

Car Yi, me and Andrea. I sometimes wish that everybody in my class were closer. I mean, I don't have a problem with any of em. The girls and guys just don't mix well when we're grouped up with other classes. But somehow, in a really weird way, I feel as if we can only cooperate and fool around when we don't have class with other groups.

The event started off with the MC introducing the lecturers, those that are currently teaching us and those who we'll be seeing the next term ( OMG 3 WEEKS LEFT OF TERM 1-! ). Then dinner was served... By our lecturers ZOMFG paiseh. They were our servers and busers for the night.

Appetizer - spaghetti. I know right, spaghetti for appetizer... Like don't need to eat the main course already right.

Main Course - chicken with assorted veggies and potatoes-! Loved the potatoes. Was super stuffed after eating the chicken. Played a few games in between while waiting for dessert.

Dessert - imported doughnuts. Didn't try em, went home early. Doesn't look very appetizing though.

Had another kitchen class at 8am the very next day. Killer. Another day... another assessment. Don't know what the fuck we were suppose to make. Chef just gave us brief ( and i mean super brief like no instructions whatsoever ) notes the day before. But all of us were still clueless XD.

Waiting for the potatoes to cook. We were going to make mashed potatoes-! And other junk hee.

Did this.

Bla bla bla.

Did that.

Bla bla bla.

Simmer this.

Bla bla bla.

Blanched that.

Bla bla bla.

And this was what Yi Wen and I cooked up-! Looks damn pro right? Harhar. Blanched tomato in the middle... Mashed potato surrounding the tomato... Assorted glazed veggies yet again, surrounding the mashed potato... AND MORE POTATOES ON THE OUTSIDE-! Yumms, love potatoes.

Class ended early ( as usual ). So we tumpang'ed Joanne's car to Snowflakes at SS15-! Parked inside Sri KL because we couldn't' find parking. BUT SNOWFLAKES ONLY OPENS AT 1PM. Fucker. Headed to F.B.I - Food . Beverage and Ice, another dessert place a few doors away from Snowflakes.

Joanne and Andres. Played Uno Stacko ( i know, doesn't look like uno ) while waiting for our desserts to arrive.

Mmm yumm-! Mine and Yi Wen's Shaved ice with mango and strawberries with strawberry ice-cream-! Certainly quenched our thirst. Went back to campus to drop the girls off. And on the way, we saw...

!!!!!!!!!!

And I did what any other Malaysian would do... I snapped a picture. MALAYSIA BOLEH KAN?!
