Sands, From Golden Sands

I still can't believe that 10weeks of training just passed by in a blink of an eye. I mean, at first I was counting down the days till I left for Penang and now, believe it or not, I'm back after weeks of dreading living there.

And yes, I know I promised to update about my training as frequent as possible but... Hell I'm going to be honest, I was lazy as hell because after working all I feel like doing is sleeping or watching dvd's. Fret not I'm still going to do it but I'm going to do it part by part. So this post will be all about "Qing's-Not-So-Adventurous-Adventure-In-Penang" lol. And hey if you don't feel like reading... There's a ton of pictures =)

First off, there's this awesome night market right outside of the my condo and it stretches up along Batu Feringghi... Fine not really it's located right outside all the hotel's laa because it mainly caters to tourist and things there can be fucking expensive because Batu Feringghi's like 'ang moh' central-! I bought 2shirts, 1 says "i love PG" and the other is "how to use the word LAH" for RM13 but the price for a measly shirt at the night market it RM10/12. How pathetic is that?! And the vendors there won't even layan locals okay. Double hmph-!

View of the condo I was living at from the outside. I know, looks dingy doesn't it. Owh and we've experienced something freaky while we were in Penang. So my housemates and I often go to the night market to get dvd's and stuff... Then there will be these handbag vendors who will kacau the people who totally ignore them and what not and yeah we were one of those people. But can you imagine how shocked we were when we heard them say "Ah miss, tinggal kat Mutiara ah" and omg the condo we live in is fucking Mutiara-! Then when we went back after a couple of weeks, they said " Kerja kat Golden Sands ah"... We fucking work there-! Feel like bitch slapping them laa seriously, they can barely make ends meet ( dunno laa ) and yet they have so much time to go stalk people. Mcb.

Low tide at Gurney.

The only mall I ever go to is Gurney Plaza because... Even though the journey there by bus takes approximately 25min, its considered the nearest mall for me like how sad is my life. So I usually spend my off day's at Gurney Plaza or watching dvd's at home with kaya pao for lunch harhar.

Thats Diana applying eye shadow on her guinea pig a.k.a Michelle. Look at the crazy amount of shadow pallet the woman has-! Madness. Owh and in case why you're wondering why there's a mattress in the living area, it's because Diana used to live in the living room because the house was fool and she was the last one who came in. Kesian.

Those who knows me should know that I have impossibly thick hair and this is the only way I can come close to 'bunning' it because I can't do a french twist for nuts and hardly anyone ever uses netting so yeah. But on days that I feel like being a rebel I'll let my hair down in a pony tail hee =)

The sun setting in Batu Feringghi. The sky literally turns purple and red. Swear I didn't photo shop any of these pictures.

The family went up to visit me during my 2nd week. Stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2days then they dumped me back to that hell hole JUST KIDDING.

Thats Renee and Lay Hoong with Lay Hoong's small but kick ass slow cooker. We were celebrating her bday at our condo and it was also every body's first meal at home together aww.

Diana, Deetha and Wendy ( who i think looks a bit like JC ) XD.

We managed to slip the cake into the house while Lay Hoong was in the living room lol then we lighted it in me and Michelle's room. Pardon the mess at the back.
As far as new housemates go, I think we were pretty awesome because I'm not really a Celebrating-all-of-my-friends-bday kindda person. So you have got to be really something or else I couldn't care less XD ouch.

Lay Hoong-! Omg I miss her so much right now. I'm so used to seeing her everyday at work and
at home and now I can't even hear her nagging anymore ( boy does she nag ). She also takes the phrase "im small but strong" to a whole new level. And guess who was the first to cry when I left =) If you're reading this... I LOVE U MIAO <3>
How can you not be forced to bond over 10weeks when you're living with this bunch of wacky people? We went from acquaintances, to housemates, to friends and finally... To family.
Of course, Penang isn't all work and no play. In fact, all I this the first few weeks were play... Like hell. A couple of nights out with the girls and new found friends with a couple of skol's ( harhar budget laa ) won't hurt anyone right XD
Sometimes however things got pretty out of control but hey, it's all part of the experience and I'm glad it was around independent and responsible people. I'd do it all over again if I could turn back time.

Tried this place called Clinic Cafe at the Gurney Plaza with Diana. The cafe really lives up to its name because they've got surgery tables as, well... Tables and wheel chairs for actual chairs. It even smells like a hospital blehh...
Waiter's are dressed as surgeons and waitress dressed as nurses. Now I know what you're thinking, damn girls dressed up as hot nurses giving you back massages while you wait for your food. But nope, the nurse's uniform was so unflattering because it was really shapeless and baggy so... Sorry to shatter your dream, boys.
Chili and tomato sauce comes in a syringe... Bleh reminds me of blood donation day at the hotel T_T

Nasi briyani and fried prawns. Urgh imagine eating out of something which is normally used for peeing into right -.- owh well at least we tried it.
Lol wondering why our expressions are so retarded? It's because the tide came in all of a sudden and it reached our ass's. That day was a really good day to go to the beach, mainly because of the weather. That, and we had a free boat right thanks to Diana's connections on the beach harhar. After the boat ride we sat on the storm, it's this round three seater disc thing that gets dragged along by a motor boat and it was fanfreakingtastic-! Better than banana boat lorr seriously.

Ate the super famous penang laksa on the way up to Kek Lok Si Temple. It was the first time I ate my very own bowl of laksa because I was too much of a pussy to eat spicy food before this.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that the turtle pond is overcrowding with turtles.
After huffing and puffing our way up the steep steps, we've finally reached the temple-! Owh, when I said "we" I meant Prabamrbellcaptain and I. Though he did more of the huffing and puffing because he's old XD He offered to take me there because I dunno, I had the sudden urge to pray.

Bought a candle for the family aww see I'm such a good daughter. And I think I'm like the most jakun Buddhist ever because everyone wrote in Chinese on the candle except me because, I couldnt think of what to write in Chinese. And people in Penang look at you funny when you speak in English. Like fuck you people okay.

View of the temple and city from the tram.

A very sad tree filled with ribbons with wishes written on them. Okay this time I wrote something in Chinese-! Proud sial.

My zodiac-! And I bought a monkey/kuan yin pendant while I was there in hopes of becoming more religious in the future but my plan fail max. I mean, I really aspire to be more religious but I dunno how... Should I start praying more ( hey i DO pray ) or should I start medidating?

Ate the very famous muar chee there too-! Ordered the first one and told the aunty "very hard to get muar chee in KL laa" with a sad face and she gave me a bit more =) But one wasn't enough to satisfy my taste buds so I ordered another packet. And imagine this Prabemrbellcaptain lived in Penang for almost his whole life and he has never ater muar chee before... Poor guy.

Big chunks of penutty chewy goodness =) =)

Went to Red Box at... You guessed it, Gurney Plaza again. But this time, with Front Office peepow-! It's actually a last get together for Sean because he was scheduled to finish training that month and after that he's flying off to Taiwan-! *He's now in Taiwan working with his girlf btw, who's a Taiwanese*

With my hunn's Renee and Diana. Renee and I were in Housekeeping that month and Diana was at kitchen.

Thats's Sean Crockford and Wayne Ken far right. Those dudes only know how to yell and scream, not sing. p/s renee you look like ghost her thanks XD Nigel joined in half way too and now both of us sorry ass's are back in Subang yay. Was suppose to leave Red Box at 12am but we ended up leaving at 3am? Lol it's because the staff there didn't chase us away. We went for supper/breakfast at a coffee shop after that. Like who in right mind still sells porridge and dim sum at 3 in the morning?!

So far my family is a buisness mogul, what with having the plaza in Penang and all *read previous post* and now we've set up a clinic. As Barney from howimetyourmother would say... A-W-E-S-O-M-E-N-E-S-S.

Family came down for the second time to visit me. This time we stayed at Gurney Hotel. Due to my lack of expression ( a default I'm forced to be recokoned with since I was born ) I may not seem like I appreciate my family making time... Driving all the way to Penang just to visit me but truth is I really am-! No matter what happens, my family comes first <3>
So other nights in Penang are filled with non-stop chatting with my housemates. And Michelle's not even in the house most of the time, so i'll just go crash in the girl's room.
Omg i just spaced out for like 5mins looking at the pictures with the girls and just realized that i really really really miss them =( I mean, the bond that we had when we were there-! We were all brought together by sharing the same toilet among 6 girls lol. The horror right...
Next on the birthday list was ReneefromShanghai-! And I've spent the past 18years of my life not knowing that there's this Chinese birthday tradition which is you have to eat noodles on the day of your birthday. Damn... I'm like THE epic Chinese failure -.-
Celebrated her birthday at Pizza Hut. According to Renee, Pizza Hut in Malaysia is considered very cheap compared to Shanghai. Then again, almost all of the fastfood chain in Malaysia is cheaper. Good to know T__T
Island supreme =) Owh, and don't be surprise if you see me next time because instead of me, you'll be seeing a fat walrus who has replaced me because I can't stop stuffing my face with goodies from the little island lol.

Our room during the last week. Harhar yes I know it's a bit of a mess but the room is teeny so you can't blame us hee XD
But before leaving, Michelle and I had already discussed that we would bring something back for the girls in Subang ( aww aren't we the sweetest ). So by seeing the picture of Mich's unglam face above *harhar sry couldnt help it*... What do you think we've brought back hmm?
Hui Zhen-! Though our relationship during the first few weeks was a bit rocky... I think it has made us stronger and closer in a way because of it's up's and down's. I know I may be harsh some of the time, kay fine most of the time... But for it's worth I meant well. Thank you for being there for me, especially our first night there and I'm sorry if I've stepped out of line at some point. I couldn't have asked for a better roommate even though you kindda talk and kick me in your sleep. I hope you dont die of boredom or get lost in the wilderness of the East of M'sia. Love =)
This is one of the goodies on the little island I was telling you about... AH POMS-! And for jagung and pennut filled ones its only RM0.60 like wtf cheap can. They've also got chocolate, strawberry and cheese fillings to. Best part is it's right outside of the condo I was living in. Ahh gluttony.

Chu Ying from KDU Penang and Chloe from Politeknik. Good luck idiots, you've got 5 more months to go XD

I wasn't kidding when I said I had to make balloons everyday. So now I know how to make a poodle, sword and snail XD

That's Sze Wei, Lay Hoong and Ziela from left to right. And the stupendous Christmas decoration in the lobby-! They were like at least 5 or 6 Christmas tree's that huddled together in the lobby and the theme was "A Blue Christmas" I think, or something like that.

Anyways, this is all I have for now, beats nothing right.

p/s : Taylor's extended their staff parking so now us students only get to park in the basement and gravel filled parking lots.

AND

p/s : Price for locker rental increased to RM10 a month. It used to be RM40 for 6months and now its RM60 so... You do the math.

Fewer parking for students + Price increase for locker rental = Taylor U's way of saying "Welcome back for Term4 bitches"

Rock on.

Kisah Cintaku Tak Begitu Indah

Ahh fuck it. I've been trying to load awesome pictures but Michelle's laptop is being a real skanky bitch so... Im giving you a heads up, its going to be a boring post.

Finished my time in Front Office 2weeks ago. Being in Front office really reminded me why I joined Hospitality Management in the first place. And I think I'm slowly getting the hang of using the Opera system. At least the supervisor's trust me enough to update guests profile's, handle the safety deposit box ( yeap i've even seen box's yang dibombkan ), check in guests and exchange foreign currency.

Can't say anything exciting really happens in Front Office to compared to Housekeeping. I mean, one of my housemates even encountered a nude male Arab guest... and we all know how hairy they are don't we. Well there was this one time an Arab guest scolded me for mocking his English when actually it was all a misunderstanding. I was actually laughing at another GSA but he assumed otherwise. So... Harhar there goes my most interesting moment in reception.

Met really awesome and friendly people though I don't understand what's with Penangites and them always laughing at me. They laugh at my name ( ppl call me chinjee like wtf ), laugh at my reaction... Laugh at everything laa. Please don't laugh, it's quite sad.

But you know what's even more sad? Housekeeping -.- I'm not complaining about bedmaking or scrubbing the toilets or anything but a trainee can only handle so much. I'm suppose to make the bed ( or try to at least ) of 2 floors of check out rooms. Like what madness is that? It's not like I'm some kindda super robot, I'm human too yeah and I get fucking tired too-! Even when I'm suppose to follow a particular kakak, other kakak's will try to 'steal' me away just to help them make the beds. Call me whiney but, I don't think that's right.

And it's not like they show they're appreciation or anything, they'll just push me to make the beds of one room after another. So I definitely won't be going back to Housekeeping for my 3rd month. Now I'm torn between Adventure Zone ( where I'll basically be babysitting kids which I don't mind coz i love em-! that, and i get to play with the drop slides XD ) or back to Front Office. So... I really need advise.

Well that's all for now. I've been sightseeing in Penang but for some bitchy reason it takes forever to upload the pictures. So, till next time =)

p.s : lol yesh i do =) i'll be seeing your sry ass when i get back xoxo =)

U Know What...

Penang makes you do shit crazy things.
And... Front Office people aren't as get-together as they seem.
Nuff said.
But, what happens in Penang, stays in Penang XD

You Can't Always Get What You Want

7th October 2010

Not exactly the nicest picture to start off with, but given the condition I've been in for the last 2 days, I'll make do with just about anything.

So, Michelle slept over at my place the night before we left for Penang. Left the house around 8 in the morning. Although I don't show it well, I'm very grateful that my dad cares enough to send the both of us there.

Made a short stop at the Ipoh rest stop. Ma goodness it's like the nicest rest stop ever.

Ketupat-! Lol jakun sial.

Cafeteria.

The father then bought sweetcorn for us before leaving. What made this jagung outstanding is that it was swimming in half a cup of butter mmmmmmm yumms.

Yesh, the father exceeded the speed limit by 41km. Pastilah kena saman kan. He then proceeded to do what any true Malaysian would've done given the situation, he bribed the police officer.

Grr are we there et?y! Alas, after 3 and a half hours...

Hey, whats that we see up ahead? *squints eyes*

We've finally reached Penang-!

Don't play play with me can?! Ma grandfather's plaza okay-!

Made a short stop to buy tau sah beng for the mother and Michelle and I. But before that we had Penang char kuey teow for lunch which had 3 giganto prawns and shredded crab met mmm nomnomnom.

Took a short nap at Gurney Hotel because the father was staying there for the night. We then left for Batu Feringghi at 4pm.

Strolled and sampat'ed around the hotel for a little while before we had to meet or training manager, Wong, at 7pm. But even after that it was still too early so...

Heh heh we ate some more-! Mee rebus this time. One thing that I've discovered about Penang so far is that their "teh ping" is super diabetically sweet-! It's as though they're trying to kill us by overdosing us with sugar -.- And I don't know why but I'm thinking of Andrea right now lol.

You know you love us xoxo harhar.

Mich and I met up with Wong first before the others arrived. Turns out he's a really young fellow lol. He showed us around the operational part of the hotel after almost 1 and a half our of briefing. Then he brought us to our hostel. Be warned people, before I show you the awesomeness of our hostel.

Oops, these are the only 2 pictures I took of the "before" effect. And my camera doesn't do justice to the hostel pictures because it is seriously much much much worse like fuck my life.

Went to dinner with my dad and had a heart to heart talk with him about my current living quarters and about my future job. I'm not gonna deny, I had a shock and a momentarily mental lapse when I moved into the hostel because... I dunno. Lets just say I've never really appreciated what I had at home until now.

And I'd super super super like to thank Wen Yi, Wei Mae and Derek for teman'ing me during parts of the night. Please know that I love y'all kay =)

8th October 2010

Had breakfast at the food court below our condo. Harhar yes char kuey teow again. Went to buy toilet scrubs and getah slippers and anything else that we needed to disinfect our hostel.

Yay it's clean-! Sort of anyways. Not to be braggy or anything, but I think my camera's too good because it makes our hostel look so clean, homey and posh WHEN ITS NOT. And I've only used toilet once so far. Have been using Mich's boyf house toilet harhar thank you Seng Kin-!

Kitchen. We've managed to fill 2 garbage bags. Imagine that.

{ pic. of timmy the dirty toilet will be uploaded next time perhaps coz mich's laptop is being a bitch }

Mich's pride and glory AHAHAHAHA because that poor soul had to clean the toilet.

Mine and Mich's room. Bleh boleh tahan laa now.

View from the balcony. Loads of things to eat near our place man. Bad sign...

Took a bus to Gurney Plaza after that because Renee wanted to do some shopping... Heck we all did laa. But I promise I kept my spending to a minimum =) Mich's controlling me, unfortunately.

Renee far left. Seng Kin aka si bao bei on top. Ching Fang far right. We're all from Taylor's woo-!
Kay fine all my housemates are from Taylor's and we're very multicultural. Cina dari China pun ada, dari Indon pun ada dan dari America pun ada.

Super love my housemates btw. Except for 3 other whom I'm not very close with, seniors marh.

Finally got to watch Wall Street after decades of waiting since March. I still remember that I initially planned to watch it with Joanne Chee but owh well. And on a totally unrelated not, I want a hello kitty cover for my phone but they only have it for Blackberry =( Kay bimbo moment over.

Wan tan mee and dumpling soup for dinner at Gurney Drive. In conclusion, I think that this experience is doing me good. It has really slapped me in the face because life, really is unpredictable. But I'm gonna try my best now and strive harder. I'll get used to it soon. Gonna start work on Monday ooo Front Office first cant wait. Till next time =)
